Download a custom linux distro for Eee PCs - it's fast, tiny and is still a complete desktop environment designed to meet all the needs of Eee PC users, including linux novices (it's based the excellent Puppeee 431 by jemimah). Get Puppeee Arcade Now!
A well-rounded, more user-friendly Eee PC desktop distro (operating system) with the fast Firedog browser suite, easier save-file management, 3D acceleration enabled as standard, great gaming options, plus many more multimedia apps as well.
Project Goals:
- introduce new users to Puppy Linux - convert users of Eeebuntu, Xandros etc into permanent Puppy users - be as user friendly and familiar as possible - be a complete desktop distro - net, office, multimedia, games - easy control panel and save file management - maintain Puppys smaller memory requirements - work well on slower Eee PCs with limited space - minimize disk writing and space requirements
Download:
Get the file eee-431.sfs: Mirror 1 (127mb, md5: 62c6f0a96dfb61f2faa7a9ab48bcaae4)
You'll also need to download Jemimahs other files from here (not including eee-431.sfs - use above)
Installation:
Backup your SD/USB!!! Then...
Follow the install details here, but use my eee-431.sfs instead! Note, if you're already using jemimahs 'Puppeee 431', you can simply replace your eee-431.sfs file.
Key Customisations:
Custom save script - The 'save' icon on the desktop points to a simple script (/sbin/PuppySaveSetup) that checks if a savefile is in use and then loads save2flash.. If no save file is being used, pupsaveconfig is loaded instead.
Faster shutdown - When you shutdown Puppeee Arcade, you'll be asked whether or not you want save your session. Choose 'No' to speed up shutdown when you don't need to save new settings.
Less disk usage - Auto save file usage is disabled, and tmp directories are deleted when not needed, reducing HDD noise, power consumption, saving savefile space and increasing the life of your USB or SD card.
How do i change the size from the games windows permanently?
I use it on a pen drive in my asus 901 netbook.

The best way is to open up the control panel, and edit the emulator config files directly.

Worked perfectly for me until two days after i connected to the internet. Every time I boot it updates the os to puppy 4.5. It still boots arcade though. I'd like to fix the OS update problem if i can.
I couldn't find the other 4.3 beta 3 puppeee files so i used the files from 4.5 and i renamed puppeee arcade to eee 4.5 so it would boot.

Jemimah (the maker of Pupeee 4.5) will know more about that than me!
I've not installed her latest version, so can't tell you what to do! Sorry mate.. But check out the thread here: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=48288
